ANNUAL OFFENCE DECLARATIONS OFFENCE DECLARATIONS<p>​If you have already obtained your Criminial Record Check these are good for 5 years.  You are only required to complete the Annual Offence Declarationonline which is found on the Board website until you are notified that a new record check needs to be obtained.  Annual Ofefnce Declarations must be sumitted online no later than October 31st.  If you do not submit your declaration by this date your name will be removed from the approved volunteer list. <br></p>

UPDATED CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS REQUIRED FOR VOLUNTEERS CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS REQUIRED FOR VOLUNTEERS<p>​</p><p><strong>Updated criminal record checks required for volunteers </strong></p><p>We appreciate the commitment of all who volunteer at our school. In an effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, and in accordance with the Education Act, the SCDSB requires a complete and up-to-date Criminal Record Check Vulnerable Sector Screening (CRC-VSS) for all volunteers across the system. If you are a current, approved volunteer and your CRC-VSS is more than five years old, you will be receiving a notification this month indicating that you are required to submit a new CRC-VSS. If you wish to continue as a SCDSB volunteer, please complete the following steps:</p><p> </p><ol style="list-style-type:decimal;"><li>Contact the school principal to obtain a CRC-VSS request letter. </li><li>Bring your CRC-VSS request letter to your local police detachment.</li><li>Submit your original and complete CRC-VSS to the school office for review by Oct. 31, 2018.</li></ol><p> </p><p>If you are a current SCDSB employee volunteering in the system, you are required to submit an updated CRC-VSS to the school where you will be volunteering. If you have completed a CRC-VSS within the past six months of the start of the school year for another organization, you may submit that original CRC-VSS for review. If you have questions, please contact the school.</p>

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA <p>​</p><p>Thursday, May 17th is INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA </p><p> </p><p>At Emma King,  educators work to identify and reduce bias and barriers.  Our curriculum and activities are reflective and representative of the diverse identities of our students and families, and of global identities .  It is important to us that students feel that their voices are being heard, as we work towards improving school climate and increasing students' sense of belonging at school.</p><p> </p><p>All classes will meet on the tarmac at 10:20 for a group photo that will be taken from the roof.  As a group we will form the shape of a rainbow.</p><p> </p><p>Students are asked to wear the colour assigned to their grade.</p><p> </p><p>Grade 7- 8 - <strong>red</strong></p><p>Grade 7 -<strong> </strong><strong>orange</strong></p><p>Grade 6 - <strong>yellow </strong></p><p>Grade 4 - 5 - <strong>green</strong></p><p>Grade 2-3  - <strong>blue</strong></p><p>JK - Grade 1 - <strong>purple <br></strong></p><p><strong></strong> </p><p><strong>We are looking forward to coming together to create the Emma King Rainbow.</strong></p><p> </p>
Kindergarten Registration is Underway! Registration is Underway!<p>​Please contact Mrs. Leach in the office (705-728-5401) if you have a child to register.  Registration packages are available at the school office.</p><p> </p><p>Do you (or someone you know) have a child who was born in 2014? If so, it is time to register them for Kindergarten in the SCDSB! Our elementary schools are registering children for Kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year. Required registration documents include birthdate documentation, proof of address and immunization records. Track and Field Volunteers and Field Volunteers<p>​We are looking for parent volunteers for our track and field day on Wednesday, May 23rd.  If you are on our volunteer list and are able to help out that day, please contact Mrs. Leach at the office by May 16th. Thank you.</p>
