Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19http://emk.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/127Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19<div>On March 31, 2020, the Premier’s Office announced an extension to the provincial school closure period in response to COVID-19. As such, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools, child care centres and adult learning centres will not reopen on April 6, 2020, as originally scheduled. The Premier’s Office has stated that all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed until May 4, 2020, at which time they will reassess school openings. <br></div><div><br></div><div>The following programs/meetings will not run or are closed:<br></div><div><ul><li>Permits (Community Use of Schools)</li><li>All EarlyON and Child Care Centres</li><li>Adult and continuing education</li><li>Dual Credit and Cooperative education programs</li><li>Accessibility Advisory Committee (March 30, 2020)</li><li>First Nations Education Advisory Committee (April 2, 2020)</li><li>Special Education Advisory Committee (April 6, 2020)</li><li>Program Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)</li><li>Human Resources Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)</li><li>Business and Facilities Standing Committee Meeting (April 8, 2020)</li><li>Business and Facilities Standing Committee and SEAC Budget Meeting (April 15, 2020)<br></li><li><div>Parent Involvement Committee (April 21, 2020)<br></div></li></ul></div><div>In addition, the Education Centre and the Career Centre are closed to the public.</div><div><br></div><div>Learn more at <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/covid-19">www.scdsb.on.ca/covid-19</a><br></div><p><br></p>

ANNUAL OFFENCE DECLARATIONShttp://emk.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/421ANNUAL OFFENCE DECLARATIONS<p>​If you have already obtained your Criminial Record Check these are good for 5 years.  You are only required to complete the Annual Offence Declarationonline which is found on the Board website until you are notified that a new record check needs to be obtained.  Annual Ofefnce Declarations must be sumitted online no later than October 31st.  If you do not submit your declaration by this date your name will be removed from the approved volunteer list. <br></p>

In an effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, and in accordance with the Education Act, the SCDSB requires a complete and up-to-date Criminal Record Check Vulnerable Sector Screening (CRC-VSS) for all volunteers across the system. If you are a current, approved volunteer and your CRC-VSS is more than five years old, you will be receiving a notification this month indicating that you are required to submit a new CRC-VSS. If you wish to continue as a SCDSB volunteer, please complete the following steps:</p><p> </p><ol style="list-style-type:decimal;"><li>Contact the school principal to obtain a CRC-VSS request letter. </li><li>Bring your CRC-VSS request letter to your local police detachment.</li><li>Submit your original and complete CRC-VSS to the school office for review by Oct. 31, 2018.</li></ol><p> </p><p>If you are a current SCDSB employee volunteering in the system, you are required to submit an updated CRC-VSS to the school where you will be volunteering. If you have completed a CRC-VSS within the past six months of the start of the school year for another organization, you may submit that original CRC-VSS for review. If you have questions, please contact the school.</p>
