A Goodbye Note from Mrs. Cornick Goodbye Note from Mrs. Cornick

A Goodbye Note from Mrs. Cornick

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of my third year at Emma King. I couldn't be more proud of our school community. It has recently been announced at a SCDSB meeting, that I will be leaving Emma King at the end of this month. I will be heading to Harriett Todd Public School, in Orillia. Carol Carpenter, who is currently the principal at Mundy's Bay Public School, will be joining the Emma King family.

I want to take a moment and thank the families and students of Emma King. You made my transition to the school very smooth. There are so many outstanding things about Emma King. The students are hard-working, polite and very respectful. They are confident and comfortable with who they are. These qualities will ensure their success in years to come.

The fact that we have over 100 students from grade 5-8 involved in student leadership or volunteering is phenomenal. Students have risen to the occasion to take on a variety of leadership roles such as sports leaders who run intramurals for primary students, the spirit team which boosts the Wildcat school spirit all year long, the student mental health advocates who have been raising awareness about youth mental health, the list goes on and on. Students now lead our assemblies under the guidance of Mme. Poisson. If you have ever been to one of our assemblies, you know that our school is packed full of opportunities for students to shine.

The opportunities for students would not be possible without a dedicated staff team. A huge thank you goes out to all of the coaches, student leadership lead-teachers, and those who stay in at recess to provide extra help to students. The staff at Emma King are a caring and welcoming bunch. They have been a pleasure to work with.

I am sure the next few weeks will go quickly as they are jam packed with special activities. I will, no doubt, see you before the end of the school year. Thanks again for being such an amazing school community.

Regards,

Jennifer Cornick
