Welcome to Grade Six, Junior Division!

We are currently reading lots of information about the solar system. Students are developing jot notes to retell information about the planets and other interesting features in the solar system.

They will use the information to develop a narrative in an entertaining way that young children can read.

Mrs. DeCourcy is going to give few lessons on writing narratives to make the stories both interesting and to the point. She is teaching a lesson on using cause and effect, question and answer and problem and solution as devices to get the plot moving forward.

Here are some excellent sites for students to use to gather information beyond the books in the classroom.

Arty Astro: this site is the best. There are easy to read facts and animation that is just what we need! Click on Travel the Solar Systtem for this assignment, but spend some time checking out the Sapce Shuttle, Sputnik and Pioneer 10 for wonderful information for all ages.

Planet Information: good information, not too many effects

NASA Kids Club - educational games, images and cool sounds, plus you can see the astronauts who are in the space station now!
