Our grade 1 students are working hard at reading. Sometimes we read non-fiction books. These books talk about real things and events. Non-fiction books often have photographs. Sometimes they have a table of contents where we can look for information that we are really interested in. We can read that first, if we want to. Sometimes there are special words that are in bold. These words might be at the back of the book with an explanation of what they mean.
Some of our favourite non-fiction books are about animals. We have lots of questions about animals.
Where do they live?
What do they eat?
What will happen if we build houses where animals live?
There are lots of non-fiction books in the library. Talk to your child about how these books are different from fiction books.
