MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE

As we move further into April, we’re starting to see signs of warmer days ahead. While we wait for spring weather to settle in for good, we’re still navigating melting snow, rain, and plenty of mud. Please continue to encourage your child(ren) to wear outdoor appropriate footwear—rain boots or remaining snow boots are ideal—as this helps keep our classrooms cleaner during transitions. We do head outside in most weather conditions, including light rain, so proper rain gear is important. Of course, when we experience heavy rain or the potential for thunderstorms, we adjust accordingly, but many of our students truly enjoy being outdoors even when the weather is less than perfect.

Over the next several weeks, we will begin the process of organizing student placements for the upcoming school year. If you would like to share information regarding your child’s needs or strengths to support this process, please submit a note to the office by April 30th, 2026. Requests should focus on your child rather than on specific teachers. Teachers will also provide input as they consider the social, emotional, and academic needs of their students. While we review all requests made for sound educational reasons, final placement decisions are made by the school team.

Yours in Education,

Mrs. Cindy McNeice

Attendance Matters

Helping our students start each day ready for success begins with arriving to school on time. When students are punctual, they can ease into the morning routine, connect with peers and staff, and be fully prepared for learning from the very first bell. Similarly, if students are picked up early on a regular basis, that can result in them missing important end of day routines that help students consolidate their learning, such as reviewing key concepts, clarifying homework, preparing materials for the next day, and celebrating accomplishments. By supporting consistent on time arrivals and end of day participation, we work together to help our students feel confident, organized, and ready to thrive each day.

New Scooter Storage Procedure

The school will no longer be able to store scooters inside the building. This includes all scooters, both motorized and non-motorized. Going forward, students who travel to school by scooter will be required to store them outside, alongside bicycles.

Key details of the new procedure are as follows:

  • Scooters must be kept outdoors and stored in the designated bike rack areas.
  • Families are responsible for providing an appropriate lock for their child’s scooter if you wish for it to be locked up.

  • Scooters may not be brought into the school building at any time, including hallways, classrooms, or offices.

We understand that this represents a change from past practice, and that many students have become accustomed to bringing scooters inside. However, due to space limitations and ongoing safety considerations, storing scooters indoors is no longer a sustainable or safe option.

We appreciate your support and cooperation as we implement this new process.
