MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the entire Emma King community for the exceptionally warm welcome I have received since joining the school. From my first day, families, staff, and students have extended a level of kindness and support that has made my transition into this role both smooth and enjoyable. It has been wonderful to witness firsthand the strong sense of community that defines Emma King, where everyone works together to create a positive, caring, and engaging environment for our learners.
Our students continue to impress me each day with their enthusiasm, respect, and dedication to learning. Whether in classrooms, hallways, or during schoolwide activities, their curiosity, leadership, and eagerness to participate make this a truly inspiring place to be. I am very much looking forward to continuing to build relationships with them, learning more about their strengths, interests, and goals, and supporting them as they grow both academically and personally.
I am grateful for the support and collaboration demonstrated by all members of the community. The commitment of our staff, the involvement of our families, and the spirit of our students all contribute to the vibrant culture that makes Emma King Elementary School such a special place. I look forward to working together as we continue to uphold the traditions, values, and positive energy that define our school. Thank you for making me feel so warmly welcomed.
Sincerely,
Mr. Warren Kirwan
Emma King Olympics Day
We are excited to share that we will be hosting an Olympics Day at Emma King. This will take place on February 19th for all students. Activities will take place outside for 100 minutes and then inside activities for 100 minutes. There will also be “closing ceremonies” the last part of the day. We are looking forward to a fun day with everyone. Please help us make it enjoyable by ensuring your child(ren) are prepared to be outside a bit more than normal that day. Extra socks and mitts are always a good idea.
Mitchell’s Soup Fundraiser
We are about halfway through our Mitchell’s Soup fundraiser, and we wanted to thank those families who have supported us thus far. The funds raised are going toward to enhance the outdoor learning space in our Kindergarten yard. We appreciate everyone’s support and are looking forward to the yummy soups.
Drop-off, Parking and Kiss & Ride Lane
As we are halfway through the school year, we need to a reminder regarding safe drop-off and pick up. Only school vehicles (buses and vans) are permitted in the right lane closest to the school. We have vans that arrive later then our bell times so that lane needs to remain open to at least 9:30am.
The Kiss and Ride Lane is the left lane only and is to remain fluid. A brief stop to have students exit the vehicle is the expectation so that cars don’t back up onto the street. If you wish to walk your child to the door/school yard we ask that you park on a side street and walk them onto the yard. Finally, the east parking lot is closed to parking from 8:55am – 3:40pm to ensure student safety. Many students and their families use that parking lot to walk through as they exit the school and having cars moving in that area during that time is dangerous. Pylons will be returning to block off that area of the parking lot.
